Soffit

Soffit refers to the material forming a ceiling from the top of an exterior house wall to the outer edge of the roof bridging the gap between a home’s siding and the roofline, otherwise known as the eaves. Fascia is a vertical board which caps the end of rafters on a house and it’s used to hold the rain gutter (eavestrough).

Soffit exposure profile (from wall to fascia) on a building’s exterior can vary from few inches to 3 feet or more depending on the construction. It can be non-ventilated or ventilated for cooling non-livable attic space.

Soffit provides essential ventilation to help prevent roof structure and rafter decay. Soffit panels lock together easily for a fast and professional finish. Built of corrosion-resistant aluminum, soffit won’t rot, rust or warp, giving you ongoing service that requires minimal maintenance. At DVC Aluminum we generally use Kaycan 3 panel SP 600 soffit. This is a popular premium quality soffit that looks trendy and makes every home beautiful. Vented soffit is most often used all around the house for better ventilation. Plain non-vented soffit is used in porch areas where soffit pieces are longer and ventilation is not a priority. Plain soffit with no holes looks better when installed in large square footage soffit areas.
